Scent of a Woman.....cynicism.. hope.. . life

"Scent of a Woman" - A movie I would have seen a freaking number of times.. a movie which has one of the strongest of the fictional characters ever created.. Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade played by Al Pacino stands in the same league as that of Terry Malloy played by Marlon Brando in 'On the Waterfront' and Jake La Motta played by Robert De Niro in ' The Raging Bull'..
Its a movie which by name sounds like a soft porno movie but turns out to be a movie about deep insights into the most beautiful thing in this world - life.. how the feeling of being useless drives a person as strong as Colonel Slade into enjoying the materialistic pleasures of life on the thanksgiving weekend and blow his brains out to get done with what has been a life full of ironies, adventures, forbidden pleasures and ultimately being useless.
But they say hope is what keeps us alive. Charlie, a high school student, comes into his life drives him to find a purpose in his remaining life as a blind man and the Colonel goes on..
A movie which seals Al Pacino as an impeccable actor and unparalleled in his class... the scene of thanksgiving lunch at his Bro's place, his tango in the restaurant and the high school speech have to be one of the most artistically directed scenes ever..
a wonderful wonderful movie..
watch it and enjoy it..
cheers!
