Blowing off Steam...

everyone has his/her own way to blow off steam.. have never felt like I ever needed to blow off steam till a few weeks back when I did feel the steam pushing me from inside and thus the need to blow it off.. I came back to NY last month after getting engaged.. is there some connection? Is loosing bachelorhood catching up on me? well.. not really.. Its the TLA (temporarily living apart) concept, which owns its origin to one of my colleagues sharing a similar fate, thats catching up with me....
its those moments when I want to be with my love after a tough days work over dinner or on the lazy weekend when I want to surprise my honey with a hot breakfast call or just laze around talking eating and ............... all those moments when I feel helpless get accumulated and steam builds up..
now.. for the last two weeks, I guess I have found a way out.. come late on friday night.. wake up late on saturday.. if my honey is home and not tired enough (yes saturdays are workng for her and when I wake up, she comes back from work given the crazy 9.5 hour difference) to chat, I chat with her and occassionally pitch in to make her sleep as monday will be start of another long week for her.. but if she cant chat, then I just cut a CD with some fast numbers of all genres (Rock, Hip-Hop, Pop, Indi Pop, New age.... ), google best drives in upstate NY and select the one within 125 miles and leave for a drive.. the drive starts with the number 'life is a highway' and ends with 'in the end' by linkin park.. given that I am a wilful disobedient person, I break all the speed limits.. and the music helps here.. (remember the saying - if you think you are in control, you aint driving fast enough)..
it did get me in a lot of trouble last week when I drove down to New Paultz in upstate NY and did a perfect stunt to save my car from turning over its head.. even though it was somone else's fault but i got to admit I was driving fast enough not to be in control.. I was scared then with my car full of smoke and tyres screaming like that of pearl jam's last kiss story.. my car eventually settled down after taking a 90 degree turn and relaxing on the highway spanning two lanes like a princess.. I was shit scared and thankful to god.. but later on, I was proud of my driving skills as I did pull off a great stunt.. the car though had to be sent to garage for some alignment and other unknown problems making her shake...
no such experience this time on my drive to Princeton.. did break the speed limits but was in control this time.. or lets say I wasnt driving fast enough.. but In Da Club did blow off all the steam..
i will pen off now as I got to get back to household stuff.. laundry and ironing and dinner..
cheers folks

Scent of a Woman.....cynicism.. hope.. . life

"Scent of a Woman" - A movie I would have seen a freaking number of times.. a movie which has one of the strongest of the fictional characters ever created.. Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade played by Al Pacino stands in the same league as that of Terry Malloy played by Marlon Brando in 'On the Waterfront' and Jake La Motta played by Robert De Niro in ' The Raging Bull'..
Its a movie which by name sounds like a soft porno movie but turns out to be a movie about deep insights into the most beautiful thing in this world - life.. how the feeling of being useless drives a person as strong as Colonel Slade into enjoying the materialistic pleasures of life on the thanksgiving weekend and blow his brains out to get done with what has been a life full of ironies, adventures, forbidden pleasures and ultimately being useless.
But they say hope is what keeps us alive. Charlie, a high school student, comes into his life drives him to find a purpose in his remaining life as a blind man and the Colonel goes on..
A movie which seals Al Pacino as an impeccable actor and unparalleled in his class... the scene of thanksgiving lunch at his Bro's place, his tango in the restaurant and the high school speech have to be one of the most artistically directed scenes ever..
a wonderful wonderful movie..
watch it and enjoy it..
cheers!
